How BRSS Helps
Bluebird nesting
Bluebirds have returned to lower Westchester, using the nestboxes that BRSS provides.

Because of our nestbox program, we have bluebirds nesting where they were absent for over 25 years.

This is what we do:

Provide Nestboxes
We placed over 250 nestboxes since 1998 and continue to add more every year.

Monitor the Nestboxes
We recruit and train people to monitor our nestboxes to prevent their use by non-native birds.

Educate the Public
BRSS involves students, scouts and other interested groups in building the nestboxes, and monitoring them. Plus, we offer a bluebird slide presentation to any interested group. We teach important ecological lessons about the bluebird and promote environmental stewardship for the future of all species.
